Unsung heroes

There are thousands of carers looking after loved ones all over the country and I have met many of them right here in Renfrewshire in my own constituency. Some are still at school and trying to juggle their own needs with their selfless dedication to looking after a mum or dad, brother or sister. Carers, sadly, often go unnoticed because no-one can see what they are doing every day to make someone’s life a little better. Carers Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK, has just ended. This year they are focusing on building Carer Friendly Communities which support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own. You can help and be part of the change by signing the Pledge Wall. Just go to www.carersweek.org/sign-up
