It was great to see the pictures of
thousands of runners of all ages from all over the country and further afield
taking part in the Paisley 10K and 3k Fun Run to raise much needed cash for
loads of worthy causes. What a fantastic day it was with a wonderful atmosphere
and plenty of happy faces crossing the finishing line. Renfrewshire's Deputy
Provost John Caldwell, who is 66, may have finished last but he and
Renfrewshire Carers Centre, who will benefit from his magnificent efforts, are
both winners in my book. It was a double for Elderslie too with well known
villager, Callum Hawkins, who was in last year's Team Scotland squad, crossing
the line first to take gold. His Kilbarchan AAC team mate Gemma Rankin took the
women's title. Congratulations to everyone who took part and achieved their own
goal.
