Stay safe on Bonfire Night

It’s that time again when our firefighters gear up for one of the busiest times of the year - Bonfire Night. I’ve spoken to men and women from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and they are urging families to go along to well organised planned public events. Here in Renfrewshire the council is staging a day of family fun and entertainment on Saturday (November 7) in the town centre from noon until 7pm ending with a spectacular firework display. The town has always been buzzing for this occasion and thousands are expected to enjoy the celebrations but if you decide to have your own please make sure you stay safe and injury free by reading over the SFRS’s guidance which is available at www.firescotland.gov.uk . You can also help our fire service teams by reporting anyone making bogus calls. These people put lives at risk by pulling our resources away from where they might be needed in an emergency so be vigilant and help out if you know anyone playing this dangerous game.
