Taking Control Campaign

Diabetes doesn’t discriminate; it affects men, women and children of all ages and managing the condition can be difficult with lots of concerns and new challenges. It was good to meet with representatives of Diabetes Scotland at the Scottish Parliament and find out more about their new campaign ‘Taking Control’. It highlights the positive difference diabetes education courses can make for people living with the condition and also calls for access to education to be commissioned everywhere. Almost £1 billion is spent annually by NHS Scotland on diabetes with 80% of this cost on treating avoidable complications. Diabetes Scotland is calling for improved access and provision of diabetes education to better support people living with the condition. If you or someone you know could benefit from attending an education course speak to your GP or healthcare professional.
