Make sure you can vote

The countdown to the Scottish Parliament elections on Thursday 5th May 2016 is well underway with less than 100 days to go and officials in Renfrewshire are urging residents to make sure they can vote. This is the first time 16 and 17 year olds will be eligible to take part in these elections and it is worth remembering that all those who registered to vote in the referendum will have to register again as a separate register was used. Even if you pay council tax, it’s not automatic that your name will be on the register. You can check if your name is included by calling the Electoral Registration Officer on 0300 300 0150. It’s also easy to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
