At your convenience

The corner shop is often at the heart of the local community here in Renfrewshire providing vital services, including in many cases, postal and banking facilities for people who have seen their local branch close. I recently met with representatives from the Scottish Grocers’ Federation, the national trade association for the convenience store industry in Scotland, and learned how the
5,500 plus stores in this country employ more than 42,000 people and make a huge contribution to the local economy, with many reinvesting six-figure sums. They open all hours for our convenience and rely on the support of the local community to survive so it is wise to remember that if you don’t use it you could lose it.
