Johnstone Christmas Lights Switch On

It was great to see more than 30,000 people turned out for the big Christmas lights switch on in Paisley. The town was buzzing, businesses were doing a roaring trade and my Labour colleagues on Renfrewshire Council did an excellent job in making sure it was a day to remember for everyone. Now it is Johnstone's turn to get all lit up and I'm sure the atmosphere will be just as great. I have been going along for years and it's always a smashing day. The fun begins at noon and the lights switch on at 4.30pm. There will be family entertainment at Houstoun Square throughout the afternoon, with live entertainment on stage before the big switch-on. There will also be funfair rides, Santa’s grotto, stalls, a marquee with face painters and circus workshops as well as a tea room hosted by St Vincent’s Hospice. I hope to see some of you there on Saturday.
